Troika! Tuesday - The Garzey Shell: Power Suits for Troika
It looks like an egg when it lands, but if you touch it and it likes you, it will expand and absorb you. And then it shrinks back down to form a kind of suit, adapted to whomever you may be! Opalescent curves of technochitin encase the wearer and they can achieve incredible power for a short time.
Introducing Garzey Shells, biomechanical exoskeletons of mysterious origin!
They fell from the heavens and can form a connection with most lifeforms. Think Beetleborgs, Kamen Rider, Escaflowne, Starship Troopers, Guyver, etc.
Test your Luck. If you pass, this is your Resonant Input with the Shell. This puts a limit to how much power can currently be drawn from it. This is added to the Ability stat (Skill in Troika! RAW) during tests.
If you failed the Initial Luck test a Shell will never enjoy your blood or lend you power!
Once a Garzey Shell likes you, it can go in your pocket and lend you power on command.
A Shell cannot be destroyed by conventional means. Not by hand nor by dragon-fire. However, each time a Shell takes damage under your control or suffers a result on the OOPS! table, the effective Resonant Input is lowered by 1.
The pilot of the shell still takes damage, at a reduction of -4 on the damage roll.
A Shell's Resonant Input can be repaired or improved by sharing blood with it... Rest for 24 hours inside the Shell in stasis and roll over the current Resonant Input to improve the power added by the machine lifeform by one point, until the full power is drawn out! However... each time you do so, your character must also suffer a reduction of stamina equal to the result of this test!
A Shell can only ever be as powerful as twice the starting Resonant Input, up to a maximum of 12.
A Shell can operate for 1-5 minutes. When donning the Shell, test your Luck and if youre lucky divide the result by 3 to a minimum of 1, then add 1. If youre unlucky, you got 1 minute and that's it!
Under normal circumstances, a Shell deals damage as Fire Bolt! However, when operating at full Resonant Input, a Shell deals damage as Dragon-Fire.
A Garzey Shell can fly. To attempt flight, roll 2d6 at or under your Ability+Resonant Input and the sum of the dice results is the maximum distance in meters that the Shell can fly. If the result is a failure, the wings have struggled to unfurl for takeoff and must be manually adjusted OR the Shell must be cast off and returned to egg form before trying to fly again.
Roll 1,1 on an Ability test while operating a Shell and suffer a roll on the Garzey Shell OOPS! table.
1 The Shell and its operator implode into a black hole. If not in combat, form an Iniative Stack. Either way, anyone nearby has until the End of Round comes up to escape its draw!
2 The operator is permanently stuck in the Shell. If they lose all Resonant Input or stamina they die.
3 A load of blood is drawn for the exertion. Damage as Jolt.
4 A Resonant Blast occurs. Everyone in the vicinity takes damage from the Shell.
5 This Shell no longer resonates with you
6 The Shell hatches. The operator is converted into a new lifeform, monstrous and deadly.
