TV/Movies:

  1. The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus. Animagic joint from '85. Watched it in 3rd grade at school. Its based on the Oz books, but I never read em. Gave me a taste for fantastic whimsy.
  2. The Hobbit ('77) and The Lord of the Rings ('78) The definitive versions from my upbringing.
  3. Rupert Orientalist adventures with a walking talking bear. I watched a lot of Rupert as a lad. I still hum the themesong sometimes.
  4. Blade Runner What a dreamy movie. Just pure texture. It seemed way deeper when I was 13. Began my fondness for cyberpunk.
  5. Transformers: The Movie
  6. Oldboy My first Greek tragedy.

  1. Rush - 2112 Yes, it is Ayn Rand bullshit. But how can you argue with The Temple of Syrinx?

  1. Robin Hood When Little John and Robin Hood fight for hours and hours, that shit got me hype.
  2. Hatchet Survival shit.
  3. Samurai Champloo I read the manga til the spines damned near broke. Taught me to embrace anachronism.
  4. Silverwing It's about a bat. I dont remember too much about this series, but there was a cave of echoes that kept the bats' history. Very fuckin cool and I read it a lot.
  5. The Samurai's Tale Erik Haugaard's historical fiction for young people. Started of a wave of samurai media I devoured in my younger days. Also introduced me to ukiyo-e prints which inspire me to this day.
